January 20, 2020 is the 34th anniversary of the federal observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Communities across the country will observe and honor Dr. King’s legacy of courage and perseverance as he fought for justice and civil rights. King’s family was instrumental in shaping his world view, and he in turn, passed that knowledge on to his children and young relatives. The books listed for MLK Day are all written by Dr. King or members of his family. The words and stories shared in the pages of their books can serve as an inspiration to children and adolescents as they seek to find their place in this world.
