Latinx Heritage Month: 24 MG & YA Books by Afro-Latinx Authors

Recently it was announced that award-winning author and poet Elizabeth Acevedo will serve as the new Young People’s Poet Laureate. Acevedo, who is a Dominican-American, received global acclaim when her debut YA novel-in-verse, The Poet X, won multiple awards, including the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature and the Pura Belpré Award.

September 15-October 15 is Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month. Inheritance (Quill Tree Books, illustrated by Andrea Pippins), Acevedo’s latest book, is featured along with 23 other books by Afro-Latinx. Most of the books are available now, but some are coming soon this year and in 2023.
