In a recent interview, artist and author Pierce Freelon said that the media doesn’t often show men taking care of and spending time with their children. He said that as an artist, “I wanted to show fatherhood and vulnerability through fatherhood, playfulness, caregiving as a dad, as a Black father.” Salute to Freelon for speaking on this much needed topic. He has two titles on this list featuring books for Father’s Day: Daddy & Me, Side by Side and Daddy-Daughter Day. Father’s Day is the third Sunday in June, so there’s enough time to grab a book or two to share.
