In 2021, the Biden-Harris administration passed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act. The act designated Juneteenth as only one of 11 federal holidays. While the meaning, traditions, and cultural significance of Juneteenth are new to some, many Black communities have been celebrating it for decades. The fiction and nonfiction books featured offer a wide range of storytelling from board to middle-grade reads.
