BCBA Author Spotlight: Ty Allan Jackson

Motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar, once said, “Outstanding people have one thing in common: an absolute sense of mission.” Ty Allan Jackson is an outstanding man on a mission to “expose children to the JOY of reading” via his literacy organization, Big Head Books. After a frustrating and futile search to find a financial literacy book for his son, Jackson took matters into his own hands and wrote, Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire – The Lemonade Escapade. The manuscript was rejected over 150 times by traditional publishers, but Jackson’s resolve to fill a void in children’s literature, led him to start his own company in 2010 and publish Danny Dollar himself. Since then, Big Head Books has released two more books, and Jackson has received numerous honors and accolades as an author and entrepreneur. Coloring Books, an exceptional TEDx presentation given by Jackson in 2015, is a must see for anyone concerned about diversity in children’s literature, the correlation between illiteracy and incarceration, and the positive effects of representation. Let no amount of rejections deter you from your path…if you believe in yourself, there are people out there who believe in you as well…you can accomplish great things.
